They have Copilot or GPT opened in another tab.Yesterday, I had an interview where the interviewer had no idea how to solve thequestion himself. He couldn’t give me any guidance or tell me where to start.This was for an internship bro.Why does someone who is supposedly good enough to judge whether I can do the jobnot even know how to do the interview question himself?Make it make sense.

Yeah pretty much in my experience unless the referrer is a VP or something and can actually affect the outcome of the interview

I often hear people say this but I never got a single job with referrals, I always did the hard way and referrals were always for low pay, weird how people can have vastly different experiences
At Faang companies even if you get a referral you’ll still have to pass leetcode interviews.

Nobody cares about impressing you buddy. Faang will pay 2x or 3x as much as other compagnies for doing the same job. That’s why people wanna join FAANG.
There are better paying companies, but they don’t hire as many people as faang tho.
Also, validation. For an older self taught person like myself it’s a big achievement.

it is primarily about the money though. most people don’t grow up dreaming of making small optimizations to checkout flow or ad placements on search. the sheer scale can sometimes bring interesting challenges, but if you just want to build cool stuff, there are plenty of other places you can do that without jumping through so many hoops.

not most, but lots of places. I make > $300k+ at a non-FAANG as a senior eng. Do a quick skim of levels.fyi many places do indeed pay a lot less than FAANG but moderately well paying ($300k+) is not rare enough where you have to look super hard.
