Interview Process
The interview process at Trexquant for the quant researcher position involved several stages. Initially, I had an HR call that lasted about 30 minutes. The HR representative asked basic questions about my background and motivations for applying to Trexquant.
Once that was cleared, I was scheduled for a technical coding interview, which was quite challenging. I was required to solve several real-time coding problems that tested my knowledge of data structures and algorithms. One of the questions involved implementing quicksort, which took me some time to solve under pressure.
After the coding interview, I was given a project challenge that involved analyzing a dataset and deriving quantitative insights from it. This task required a mix of statistical knowledge and programming skills. I spent a couple of days preparing for this challenge, testing my ability to work with data and communicate findings effectively.
Finally, I had interviews with multiple quant leads who focused on my recent projects. They were very interested in my approach to solving complex problems in financial analytics. The technical depth of these interviews was both exciting and intimidating, but I felt prepared due to my prior experiences and study.
